Rhizomatous, robust, colonising perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.2-2 m high. Fl. purple-brown-other, Jul to Dec. Silty sand, waterlogged soils. Swamps, bordering lakes and watercourses. Distribution: South-west. ESP, JF, SWA and WAR.
