Mallee or tree, 2-8 m high, bark smooth. Fl. yellow-green, Aug to Nov. Sand, loam over granite or quartzite. Hillsides, gullies. Distribution: South-west. ESP and WAR.

General Biology. Growth form. Tree. Reproduction. Seed. Dispersal. Wind. Vegetative regeneration strategy. Lacks a lignotuber. Seedbank persistence. Short, days-1 year. Fire response. Hot fire will kill adult plants. Prolific germination of seed follows fire.

Additional information. Origin. South coast of Western Australia. History of use/introduction. Garden escape, restoration plantings.

Suggested method of management and control. Hand pull or dig out seedlings ensuring removal of all roots. Try cut and paint or inject root crown using 50% glyphosate. Foliar spray regrowth with 1.5% glyphosate. Read the manufacturers' labels and material safety data sheets before using herbicides. For further information consult the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority to determine the status of permits for your situation or state.
