Upright, robust perennial or annual, herb, to 1.5 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar to May. Black or yellow cracking clay, peaty loam, limestone. Valleys & ridges, creek edges, disturbed pindan plain, along drainage channels. Distribution: Northern. DL and VB.
