Compact, perennial shrub (with a yellow indumentum), 0.3-0.4 m high, leaves obovate, grey, 7-35 mm long, 4-18 mm wide; spikes yellow, ovoid-cylindrical, 10-22 mm long, 14-18 mm wide; bract 3-3.4 mm long; bracteoles 3.8-4 mm long; tepals 6.2-7.6 mm long; 5 fertile stamens; ovary glabrous; style straight, 2.8-3 mm long, centrally fixed to ovary. Fl. yellow & red/purple, Mar to May or Jul to Oct. Red sandy soils. Stony hills and screes. Distribution: Eremaean. GAS and MUR.
